What to Wear to an Indoor Pool

The Pool Is No Longer Just for Intense Sports Activities . Modern pools have become true entertainment centers. With water that’s hot or icy cold, salty, chlorinated, or ozonated, featuring strong currents in artificial rivers, “ocean” waves, or designated for swim training or aqua fitness—these are just some of the challenges a good swimsuit needs to handle. So what should you look for when choosing one?

Fabric for Special Tasks

Swimsuits designed for intensive use in the water are typically made from materials like polyester, polyamide, lycra, elastane, and others in various proportions. One-piece, sport-specific swimsuits should include a good amount of elastane, which gives the fabric elasticity and ensures a perfect fit to the body.

When choosing a swimsuit for the pool, it’s important to consider the possible presence of chlorine in the water. Some fabrics can discolor or stretch when exposed to it. That’s why it’s worth investing in swimsuits with enhanced chlorine resistance.

One-Piece or Two-Piece Swimsuit for the Pool?

Modern indoor pools are no longer limited to swimming lanes, though typical sports pools are still dedicated to this purpose. Many facilities now include entertainment centers with multiple pools designed mainly for recreational activities.

Two-piece swimsuits are most commonly seen on beaches and in outdoor bathing areas, but with the right fit, they can also work well in water parks. For this setting, it’s best to opt for more covered, sporty styles.

Sporty two-piece swimsuits often have a more enclosed design, making them ideal for activities like aqua fitness, SUP yoga, or similar exercises.

One-piece swimsuits are generally considered more athletic. They fit snugly, providing support during training. They are an essential piece for swimmers.

However, one-piece swimsuits aren’t solely reserved for sports. In recreational versions, they don’t have to cling as tightly to the body, often shaping the figure and performing well during swimming or even diving, though the effectiveness depends on the swimsuit’s design.

Two-Piece Swimsuit/Swimming Costume AQUA SPEED FIONA

An excellent example of a versatile swimsuit is the two-piece Fiona sports swimsuit. It’s the perfect choice for active users who value comfort and style. Made from Italian, quick-drying, breathable Vita fabric, this swimsuit is suitable not only for the pool or beach but also for various sports activities such as fitness, aerobics, or beach volleyball.

Sports Swimwear – Comfort Comes First

Women’s and men’s training swimsuits for indoor pools serve a specific purpose. By fitting closely to the body, they create a “second skin” effect, ensuring complete comfort and freedom of movement during training.

Intensive activity requires not only elasticity but also durability in the fabric. It’s essential to choose materials that can withstand prolonged contact with water. For added comfort, select a swimsuit that doesn’t become see-through when wet—avoiding options like white, thin fabrics.

The cut of the swimsuit also plays a key role in comfort and ease of movement in water. The simpler and more streamlined the design, the better. Decorative elements, strings, embellishments, ties, or pockets are not practical in this context.

AQUA SPEED ANA Sports Swimsuit

The ANA model is a great example of a comfortable training and competition swimsuit. Designed to withstand frequent visits to the pool, it features a higher leg cut, an open back, and thin straps, ensuring unmatched freedom of movement. Perfect for regular training, the fabric not only dries quickly but is also chlorine-resistant, ensuring durability and color retention over time.

It is made from Sydney Eco fabric, consisting of 51% recycled polyester and 49% PBT.

Regulation-Compliant Swimwear

When buying a swimsuit for the pool, it might seem like personal preference is all that matters. In most cases, that’s true. However, it’s worth occasionally considering legal regulations and the rules of indoor pools. For trips abroad, it’s especially important to review the relevant local regulations before your planned visit.

In Poland, pool regulations typically outline rules regarding swimwear as follows:

  • For women: One- or two-piece swimsuits that fit closely to the body.
  • For men: Swim briefs or shorts without pockets, usually also closely fitted to the body.

Why no pockets? Primarily to prevent items left in pockets from accidentally entering the pool water.

It’s important to note that these rules can vary between facilities. Typically, stricter swimwear requirements are enforced at indoor sports-oriented pools compared to recreational water parks.

Some swimsuits, both for women and men, are designed with enhanced chlorine resistance, an essential feature for pool attire.

How to Care for Your Swimsuit?

Here’s a practical tip: swimsuits should be treated similarly to underwear. After every visit to the pool, the swimsuit should be hand-washed using a gentle detergent and warm (not hot) water. Machine washing, as with delicate lingerie, can unfortunately accelerate fabric wear and damage the swimsuit.
